President Donald Trump tweets: "Despite the constant negative press covfefe"

As Donald Trump said in 2015, "I know words, I have the best words."

Boy, was he right.

The tweet from the president early Wednesday morning broke the internet and caused massive controversy, but for a reason you may not expect.

The tweet wasn't bashing a political opponent or bragging about success whilst in office, but rather an oddly interesting addition to the English language.

The tweet, which has since been taken down, reads:

"Despite the constant negative press covfefe".

However, three hours later, Trump tweeted:

"Who can figure out the true meaning of 'covfefe' ??? Enjoy!"

As CNN's Anderson Cooper said on his segment, The RidicuList Wednesday:

"In the world of Twitter, that move is generally known as the 'oh yeah, I totally meant to do that' trick. Always super effective."

Speaking of "the world of Twitter", it took little time for those who saw Trump's gem of a midnight tweet to poke fun at it.

The most notable response came from comedian Rachel Dratch who provided a beautiful image to accompany the president's tweet.

"It's 5:50 am & his tweet is gone. The sun rises & we all walk home in our party clothes. Was it all just a dream? The wind whispered...covfefe."

Beautiful.

Now White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer could have played it off and just admitted the president made a typo.

No one would argue that one Twitter slip up could happen to a man with a busy schedule.

Did Spicer do this? Of course not.

When asked about the immortal term in Trump's tweet, Spicer stated, "I think the President and a small group of people know exactly what he meant."

As expected, the press immediately clamored for more details.

Questions of "What does the president mean?" and "What is covfefe?" rang in the room instantaneously.

Sean Spicer, what did you do!? You could have played this out and had a laugh about it, buried it forever. Instead, you dug yourself a deeper hole!

Who knows? Maybe, unlike the past instances of miscommunication from president to communication team, Spicer knows something about the president we don't know.

That leaves the million-dollar question, What in the world is "covfefe"!?

My theory is the obvious. I believe Trump simply meant to type "coverage".

However, maybe it could be a new coffee brand under the Trump name.

Maybe he accused the "negative press" of being covfefes. Unless covfefe is the plural term. What could be the singular?

Could it truly be a signal? A sort of social media smoke signal to the president's inner circle?

One thing is certain, the internet will never forget. The "Twitter-verse" and "meme stars" will not cease until the truth is found.

How many guesses will the internet take to find the true center of a Trump tweet?

The world may never know.
